Staff Representation and consultation

Staff representation and consultation is important when developing positive working relationships based on good communications.

Involving staff representatives encourages an increased understanding between different groups, better decision making and improved employee relations.

Joint Staff Negotiating and Consultation Committee (JSNCC)

The JSNCC is the main forum for consultation between the University and our staff, on all matters of mutual interest.

The Committee is co-chaired by the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, and the Campus Trades Union Convenor and has both staff and trades union representatives as members.

A number of trade unions are active across our campuses and centres and the university has a recognition agreement with all four.

Under the Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017, public sector employers, including universities, have to collate and publish data on employees who are relevant trade union officials.
