How to create a segment to focus on your site statistics
- First check to see if a segment has already been created for your website. If it exists, click the link and download it to your GA account and follow the rest of the instructions on the selecting a segment page
- Go to the Google Analytics home and scroll down till you find "All website data" under kent.ac.uk
- Just below the header 1 "audience overview and to the right of "all sessions" there is a button titled " + new segment". Click it.
- Look through the list and check that the segment you want to create does not already exist.
- For example, if someone from SSPSSR wants access
to GA, then the segment may already exist. We have a list of existing
segments on our 'select segments' page.
- If the segment does not exist, click on "New segment" which is in a red button.
- Then go to "conditions"
- Change the "add content" drop down to "page",
- Change "Contains" drop down to "start with"
- And fill in the input box with the site name not including kent.ac.uk. For example "/sspssr/" or "/cpp/"
- Then hit save.
