Arts and culture
Screen and stage
The Gulbenkian, our on-campus arts centre, offers innovative, engaging and high quality arts activity for staff, students and the public.
You can watch the latest film, see
a live show, or get involved in special activities (age
dependent!) such as our Youth Theatre.
If you love making music, we have an ensemble to suit!
You can audition for a role in our University Chorus, Symphony Orchestra, Big Band or Chamber Choir.
Studio 3 Gallery, part our School of Arts, presents an outstanding programme of art exhibitions and events open to the public.
Clubs and societies
University of Kent Players
The University of Kent Players are the amateur dramatics group for staff at Kent.
They put on two shows per year at the Gulbenkian and are always looking for new members both on stage and off stage.
A friendly, interdepartmental competition organised by Kent Sport
Kent has a college community and membership of our six colleges – Darwin, Eliot, Keynes, Rutherford, Turing, Woolf (postgraduates only) and Medway - is open to staff as well as students. College members are invited to special events on campus, including lectures and receive email and newsletter updates on College activities.
Kent has a number of professional networks which, depending on your role, you are welcome to join.
We encourage both our staff and students to give back to their local communities.
Staff who register as a volunteer can apply for up to 25 hours’ paid leave a year.
