Kent is committed to reducing the impact of transport and travel by encouraging our staff, students and visitors to use alternatives to single-occupancy cars.

Cycling
Parking and showers
Kent Sport Cycle Hub provides free short-term bicycle hire to Gold and Silver members. Rental is also available to non-members when you take out a membership starting at £1.
There are over 1,300 cycle parking spaces across our Canterbury and Medway campuses.
We also provide shower facilities at Canterbury and Medway.
Staff wishing to use the parking and/or showers will need to contact our Transport team to arrange access using their Kent One card.
Cycle to Work Scheme
The Cycle to Work Scheme offers staff the opportunity to buy a new bike and accessories at a discounted rate.
Walking
We encourage
walking to Kent as part of the University Travel Plans (see above). Walking can improve your health and fitness,
help our environment and it’s free!
Walking Taxi service
Campus Security offer a free Walking Taxi service to help you feel safe and get home safely. Security guards are on hand to help all staff and students across the Canterbury campus, day or night.

Buses and trains
Our Canterbury and Medway campuses have excellent links to bus and train services.
We recognise the benefits of bus, train and coach travel. We work closely with local companies to subsidise improvements and offer discounted travel for our staff.
Campus Shuttle
Kent operates a free coach service between Medway and Canterbury campuses for students and staff.
Staff parking
Parking spaces are available for use across our Canterbury and Medway campuses.
To use them, staff must have a registered virtual parking permit or display a parking permit in the windscreen of their car.
Parking on campus
Visitor parking
All visitors are encouraged to use public transport wherever possible as parking spaces on campus are limited.
Business-related parking
For business visitors who need to drive, you can apply for a free permit for them to park.
Other visitors
Visitors coming to campus for a non-business reason, such as seeing a show at Gulbenkian, should park in the Pay and Display carparks at Canterbury campus.
Car Share
Kent has developed a private online car share scheme for staff and students via LiftShare.
